For the audiologist and the hearing aid patient, the fit of the device is of utmost importance. The current process of fitting an audio device requires an audiologist to generate an impression of the patient’s ear using a resin-based substance. This messy substance is injected into the ear canal where, after some time, it solidifies, forming a mold of the ear canal. Removal of the mold may not only be uncomfortable, but may also cause distortion of the impression’s shape. The entire process is time consuming and inefficient.

Lantos’s revolutionary scanning technology will completely transform the way audiologists measure their patient’s ears. It enables a dynamic 3D image of the canal, one that reflects the changes that take place in the shape of the canal as a patient moves or swallows, and it collects even more data about the ear canal wall than ever possible before, so that manufacturers can use this information to improve the fit and design of in-ear devices. The Lantos scanner also reduces the time spent in the audiologist’s office, as it takes less than one minute to produce an image.
