The current process of fitting an audio device requires an audiologist to generate an impression of the patient’s ear using a resin-based substance. This messy substance is injected into the ear canal where, after some time, it solidifies, forming a mold of the ear canal. Removal of the mold may not only be uncomfortable, but may also cause distortion of the impression’s shape. The entire process is time consuming and inefficient.
