Ear canals are unique just as our fingerprints.Today, we use a one size fit all approach in most consumer products for our ears. Custom fittings are done in the hearing aid industry but the manual process requires considerable skill developed over years of professional audiology practice.

Born in the labs of Professor Douglas Hart, MIT’s Mechanical Engineering department, a unique 3D  scanning technology stands to revolutionize all things custom made for ears. 

Lantos Technologies, is working to commercialize 3D digital scanner capable of measuring ear canal shape and tissue compliance. This method will eliminate the uncertainties associated with manual fits, greatly improving the performance of custom made ear products. In addition to medical applications, there is the huge untapped market for mass customization of earphones at the retail point of sale.
